7.4 November 7 (Saturday), 19:00–22:00 | Special Workshop
Theme: Cardiopulmonary Integrated Ultrasound Practical Training Workshop [Limited-Enrollment Intensive Hands-on Class]
7.4.1 Learning Outcomes
(1) Update Knowledge and Establish a New Clinical Mindset
Reconceptualize bronchopulmonary dysplasia (BPD) as an alveolar–capillary coupling disorder plus cardiopulmonary syndrome; understand the full pathophysiological chain of increased pulmonary vascular resistance → pulmonary hypertension → right-heart failure; and establish an integrated ventilation–perfusion–ventricle clinical mindset.
(2) Master Key Points in Bedside Ultrasound Image Recognition
Master interpretation of key bedside cardiac and lung ultrasound views in children with BPD, and rapidly and accurately identify pulmonary hypertension, right-heart dysfunction, septal displacement, pulmonary venous congestion, pulmonary edema, and other core ultrasound signs.
(3) Master the Closed-Loop Clinical Decision-Making Process
Master the complete closed-loop clinical pathway of ultrasound assessment–clinical evaluation–treatment adjustment–reassessment; all techniques can be directly applied at the bedside for critically ill premature infants in the NICU.
(4) Immersive Small-Group, Step-by-Step Practical Training
Multiple professional bedside ultrasound systems will be provided on site. Small-group teaching will be conducted, with a dedicated senior training tutor for each group to demonstrate standard scanning techniques step by step. A standardized OSCE scoring checklist will support self-checking, gap identification, and rapid standardization of practice.
(5) Case Review + Post-Course Implementation
Using real severe BPD clinical cases, participants will complete scenario-based practical exercises and pre- and post-training competency assessments. Targeted clinical practice assignments will be provided after the course to ensure that learning is acquired at the venue, usable in the department, and effective in practice.
7.4.2 Design Rationale
BPD (bronchopulmonary dysplasia) has moved beyond the traditional definition of a single chronic lung disease and is newly defined as an alveolar–capillary coupling disorder plus cardiopulmonary syndrome. The core vicious cycle is: abnormal pulmonary vascular development → increased pulmonary vascular resistance (PVR) → pulmonary hypertension (BPD-PH) → right-heart failure → leftward septal shift → impaired left-ventricular filling → pulmonary venous congestion and worsening pulmonary edema.
This workshop is built around the integrated ventilation–perfusion–ventricle framework. It moves beyond purely theoretical instruction and focuses on practical clinical skills. The program is proportioned as follows: 70 minutes of lectures and case analysis, 90 minutes of rotating small-group practical training, and 20 minutes for assessment, questions, and feedback. The entire session simulates real clinical scenarios and completes a full assessment → decision → implementation loop.
