Professor Jing Liu, Chair of the Pediatric Medicine Branch of the Asia-Pacific Health Association and Head of the Department of Neonatology at Beijing Obstetrics and Gynecology Hospital, Capital Medical University, has once again been included in the 2026 World’s Top 2% Scientists ranking.
On October 7, local time, Stanford University and Elsevier, an internationally authoritative academic publisher, jointly released the 2026 World’s Top 2% Scientists ranking.
The ranking consists of two categories: the Career-long Impact ranking and the Single-year Impact ranking. The Career-long Impact ranking evaluates a scientist’s overall performance throughout their professional career, while the Single-year Impact ranking focuses on academic impact during the previous year.
From approximately 10 million scientists worldwide, the ranking identifies the top 2% of scientists globally based on comprehensive indicators, including citation counts, the H-index, the co-authorship-adjusted HM-index, and citations to papers authored independently or as first author. The ranking covers 22 scientific fields and 174 subfields.
According to available information, a total of 14,852 scholars from China were included in the Career-long Impact ranking, while 37,201 scholars were included in the 2026 Single-year Impact ranking. Both figures increased compared with the previous year.
Within the field of pediatrics, 10 experts were included in the Career-long Impact ranking and 55 experts were included in the 2026 Single-year Impact ranking, also representing significant increases over the previous year.
Professor Jing Liu was included in both the Career-long Impact ranking and the 2026 Single-year Impact ranking. This marks the sixth consecutive year that Professor Liu has been included in the World’s Top 2% Scientists ranking.
